In the Android community we are allowed to do everything with our phones from whether it is installing pirate apps or changing our hardware speeds such as the CPU.

There are many Roms or custom Operating Systems out there for each device, but I just want to point out my favourite modified roms or devices.

(All links will guide you to XDA-DEVELOPERS original release thread - These will put you to the section of my device but in the world there are many Rom ports so expect most of them to be possible on your device.)

*1. Gingerbread2Jellybean Rom
Here
This is the quickest, most stable and just possibly the number one on my list, it is based on the Stock Operating System on my device and adds many performance tweaks and to add to more than that then a whole new interface. My games did not just run as normal they ran much better than normal.

*2 Miui v5
Here
From the - MADE IN CHINA - sssh ssh..... Developers. We have a completely different rom here that has an interface which any other does not have and it dosen't feel either like an Android or an iPhone device though for me it is the most stable rom and the most Lag Free but it uses a speck of RAM but is definetly good enough for a daily driver. Only ICS rom so far on which my Touchpads Worked in every game, even Sony Coudn't get them to work on every game and developers denied to update games that's possibly main reasons why no official ICS update instead of custom Roms.

*3 Cyanogenmod 9
No link here as it is possibly the most known Android rom in the universe just google it, it works on almost all devices and you can look for pages and still not get off it as it is by far the most advanced rom that the world of man had yet seen. This one is based off Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0.0+) and not original Gingerbread 2.3.4, however unlike the previous Cyanogenmod 7 I can actually enjoy my Gamepad again as the previous did not support it.

*4 Cyanogenmod 7
As I said this one dosen't work with my Gamepad making my Xperia Play kinda useless (I can use it in menus but not in apps or games - except emulators) this one is based on Gingerbread (YAY) but on a newer system than my device's stock one but you know, it i s very stable but laggy for me at times in the menus.

*5 TrueAncestor 2.3.7
Here
This rom is based on Xperia S' one and is very stable and quick indeed, this was supposed to be my no3 on this list but was not advanced enough for me so you know not the most of use I can make from it.

Seems so some man possibly either Portuguese or Brazilian made a video of my favourite Gin2Ics Rom so I think Ill share it with you but it is slightly outdated

(He lags so badly Sad at the game he played :D - I had that game and I had 60FPS / Difference? Yes I had shut down all my apps from memory and had 120mb more free ram and 1% Cpu load until playing)

Well and I also overclocked my from 1.0Ghz to 1.4Ghz and not 1.2Ghz because I don't rely on performance governors keeping it at max at all times and a Play can even go further to 1.6Ghz without complete overheat but is not stable. Anyways performance governors waste battery and heat.

--------------------------------------------------------------
If you don't know what I'm talking about.

Governor - The Cpu speed on Android devices keeps changing, the Governors manage how they change I.e performance keeps it running 100% all the time as long as Cpu usage is above 5%

Overclock - The name for changing the speed of your processor to higher than default.
