I could do with a bit of help here.

My parents are considering getting me a new PC, so I can play games without damn awfull lag.
I want to play Gens PC, so I was just wondering if you guys could recommend me a PC, though it has to run Gens perfectly, with hardly any lag or slowdown at all.

Depends on which type of Games do you play exactly.

Slowdowns with Gens lol? I can play Genesis with full speed even on my mobile phone.

For Generations Ill reccomend you:

- 2.8Ghz or higher Processor (2.5Ghz Can Do if you optimize your PC right)
- Amd Radeon HD 6700 Series (6500 Series might do if you can optimize your PC) or above.
- For Nvidia Graphics Cards if you prefer rather than AMD 280 GTX or higher.
3 Gb Ram

That's the minimum specifications I can give you to Run Generations at 1920x1080 (Full HD) lagless at 60FPS

8Gb Ram (8Gb Usable)
AMD RADEON HD 6770

Costed about 405Pounds - What I have right now.
Bought for 340 and replaced GPU with it for HD 6770 (Costed me 85) and sole old one for 20.

What is the price (Btw I bought mine without a mouse too)

I went over it all and Just like I when I bought mine you'll be screwed in your graphic card performance, if this pc is very worth the price then but it and replace your Graphic Card.

I found one for you.

It's the same one as I have but I have an ASUS one which has a different cooling system that is Slightly better, but the temp difference between these is only about 3oC and the fans of it you can customize to your own liking as mine for example runs at 30% speed all the time and is very quiet.


Putting it short, if the PC according to the specs is really worth the price then you should buy it and replace the graphic card (Sell the one you got with it), otherwise to say It's a really great combination of Hardware I can tell of my own experience.

If you put the price I can maybe tell you whether It's really worth it.


Edit : The GT 520 could run Generations at 1280x720 if you question

It's $549.99 (£500??).

EDIT: Has to be affordable. Any PC's you can recommend?
And I can get a keyboard and mouse from a Lidl (UK store for those of you in US).
Correction: Only need a keyboard.

346 Pounds, That's a very good price, seems promising to me, maybe could you ask can you have it without the mouse and keyboard if you already own them, unless you're giving your old computer to someone else in the family.


Remember that if you want to play in Full HD you will need a better videocard, The 6770 are cheap because they do not support voltage control which is a function that barely anybody ever uses as it overheats the card.


If you ask me about my experiences with the 6770 :

Sonic Generations - 1920x1080 Max-Settings + VSYNC - AntiAlias ON (60FPS - VSync limits it to 60fps so I cannot test where it actually goes up to unless I turn it off possibly around 68fps though)

Modern Warfare 2 - 1920x1080 Max-Settings Antialias-x4 and NO Vsync (I don't like it for some reason) - 60FPS and least I've dropped to was 55FPS, stays at about 64 or so)

Black OPS JUST SUCKS - Avg 53 Fps on Max Settings + No Anti-Alish or VSync but I tweaked the game and I now get 60Fps but still neither.

Sonic Riders (Through Modifying) - 1920x1080 and 60Fps on Vsync, game sadly does not support AntiAliasing.

Sonic Adventure Dx (Through Modifying) - 1920x1080 and 60Fps

NFS The Run - 52 Fps on max settings-Antialias x2 so I had to turn the texture quality down a slight because it uses really big ones.

Dirt 3 - 54 Fps On Max Settings AntiAlias-x4, also just put the texture quality of background objects down and I was fine (Trees Water and Snow Effects)

Worms Ultimate Mayhem - 1440x900 - Anti-Aliasing x4 and Max Texture quality.

That seems quite reasonable. I'll have to wait and see what my parents think, but hopefully soon I can get both the PC and the video card you recommended.
